Performance Act 1: Fake Opening Speech
Princess Art - Nami M'sango Real Art - Sheila Nakitende
Princess Art: Ladies & Gentlemen, Followers and Fans! Welcome to the FREAK SHOW! I am the Freak of all Freaks! I am the Art itself! Be proud of yourself to attend my show! By that it means, you are educated and upper class, you don t even have to be pretty at all as you are the elite of the country, for which art is suppose to be! Art is for us!
Real Art: No, it is for us!
Princess Art: That's what I just said/
Real Art: No, it is for us! Not for the elite! Art is for the people!
Princess Art: You must be very poor to speak like that/
Real Art: Art is about feelings, about encouraging, about the future, about so many things you won't understand if you pretend it's just fancy fuck!
Princess Art: Art is not for the uneducated. I don't mean to offend you by that. It's just the truth. How will you understand an exhibition, if you don't have any art education.
Real Art: By heart! By my spirit! And by talented artists! If I can't understand an exhibition, it's not me being uneducated, it's the artist being arrogant. Not talented at all. Who just want to pretend and like the style of being an artist!
Princess Art: Honey, you are angry, because you don't belong here.
Real Art: I AM standing here with the people. You are UP there, talking DOWN to US. We are the people, who came here tonight, because we're curious and that's all you need to be if you're coming here.
Princess Art: Then how will your people understand all of this, honey? What if they just walk home and didn't get it?
Real Art: What is there to get? It's Art. Sometimes you like it, sometimes you don't. There is no right meaning or feeling for anything. Everybody can be openminded and then see what happens.
Princess Art: Honey, I don't think it's that easy. There is a reason for, that only the educated wine drinker is coming to an exhibition.
Real Art: Then you attend the wrong exhibitions. Honey. And now get the hell off that balcony. We want to start with the show and enjoy our drinks. Cheers!
